Rise in Vehicle Break-Ins

Unfortunately over the past few weeks, we have noticed a rise in vehicle break-ins and burglaries.

Please keep a look out for any suspicious activity and call the police immediately. Remember there is no harm in calling the police to have them check out something that does not seem right. No one will get in trouble if everything is ok. It does not hurt to be extra vigilant and letting the police do their job. It is much easier to catch the criminals in the act, then trying to track them down after the fact.

Be sure to follow these vehicle safety tips:

  1. Always lock your vehicle. Get into the habit, even if you only step away for a minute or two.

  2. Roll up your windows. A locked door is useless if someone can reach in and unlock it.

  3. Never leave objects in plain view and remove any valuables, including those in any compartments. Even if you have locking glove box, the lock will likely not stand up to a determined thief.

  4. Take your garage door remote with you. If a thief breaks into your vehicle, they will have your address from your registration and the ability to get into your garage, and possibly your house.

  5. Install low-tech security measures, such as wheel locks and steering wheel locks (i.e. the Club)

  6. Ensure your lights outside your house are turned on at night.
